ALY KEÏTA & TRILOK GURTU at JAZZ in E.

A meeting of two cultures — Indian and African — will take place in Eberswalde, a town 50 km northeast of Berlin, at the Jazz in E. festival on 30th of May.

Trilok Gurtu and Aly Keïta first met in 2008 when Aly, an up-and-coming balafon star, was invited to perform in Trilok Gurtu's project with Jan Garbarek & Friends at the Etnosur festival in Spain. Aly was later invited several times to join Trilok's band on various occasions. They once even played for Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands, Maxima. Last year in Italy, they performed in a duo for the first time. Despite their different cultural backgrounds, the musicians have many things in common. They both came to fusion from traditional roots and praise groove as the main pleasure of music. By challenging each other with sophisticated polyrhythmic games, they excite the audience in a breathtaking musical flow.
